I really disliked my electric screwdriver's original case. It came with bits stored across 3 tubes that opened from both ends, but to you had to open it from only one of the ends for it to be usable. It also only allowed you to carry 1 tube at a time, and did not allow you to carry any if the accessories that came with the tool, like a de/magnetizer and screw storage, amongst other things. See pictures below.
The design drive me crazy. I wanted to keep the driver, all the bits, and the accessories in one case, so I decided to design my own.
The design was pretty simple- a base with removable bitholders, and an acrylic-window lid that attaches with magnets. The most annoying part was probably getting the bit hex sizing right.
I tried a few different holder designs, and then printed rows of different incremental sizes to get the right transitional fit I wanted.
There are 2 main bit holders. A main block holds all the standard bits in an alternating grid, and a smaller holder stores 4 special long bits in a block that can, swing up for easy removal, or lie down for storage. Both bit holders are fully removable.
